Description Lapox Metalam - B is two component modified, epoxy coating system. When both components aremixed in recommended ratios and cured appropriately at room temperature, an excellent coating orlamination can be achieved on most of the substrates including glass, metals, plastics, wood, paperstickers and natural stones. Faster productivity can be achieved, if curing is performed at highertemperature between 40°C and 60°C. Curing at higher temperature is recommended to achieveoptimum bond strength.Applications BucklesCoating and lamination of articlesKey-chainMetal gift articlesPaper stickersPVCAdvantages Good colour stabilityGood flexibility and adhesionHigh gloss and clarityThermally stable and suitable to perform in extreme conditionsWater and chemical resistantTypical specifications Test Unit Reference ValueResin HardenerDescription - Visual Clear, transparentliquidClear, transparentliquidViscosity at 25°C1 m Pas ASTM D2196 800 - 1,200 300 - 600Colour APHA ASTM D1209 Max 60 -Colour GS ASTM D1544 - Max 1Density g/cc ASTM D792 1.00 - 1.20 0.95 - 1.001Viscosity by Brookfield viscometerMix specifications Test Unit Reference ValueMixing ratio (resin : hardener) w/w - 100 : 50Mix viscosity at 25°C m Pas ASTM D2196 500 - 800Pot life1 Minutes ASTM D2471 20 - 35Peak exotherm temperature2 °C ASTM D2471 Max 75Surface dry* Hours ASTM D5895 150 - 180Touch dry* Hours ASTM D5895 230 - 260Optical clarity Visual - Excellent1Pot life of 100 g mix mass at 25 ± 1°C in plastic disposable cup by ‘Gardco’ gel timer2Total 100 g mix mass in plastic disposable cup at 25°C*Drying time of 200 micron film on glass plate at 25°CAfter cure specifications Test Unit Reference ValueWater absorption (24 hours immersion) % ASTM D670-63 Max 0.5Hardness of 10 mm casting (after 24 hours) Shore D ISO/ R868 60 - 65
Processing Surface preparation: The substrate must be thoroughly degreased with a good degreasing solvent(e.g. toluene, acetone trichloroethylene). Ensure the surface is free form the dirt, oil, grease andmoisture. Wipe off the surface with clean cloth. Inadequately pre-treated substrates may not yieldsatisfactory results.Application: The mixed mass is applied by brush, spatula or through dispensing bottle on thesurface to be coated. The mix must be used within its pot life.Curing: Curing normally takes place at room temperature within about 24 hours depending on theambient temperature but may be accelerated by the application of heat.Packaging Lapox Metalam - B is available in 1.5 Kg bottles and 7.5 kg HDPE jerry cans. Other packing may beconsidered on request.

Araldite® 2014 Two component epoxy paste adhesive Key properties • Grey paste • High temperature and chemical resistance • Low shrinkage • Very resistant to water and a variety of chemicals • Gap filling, non sagging up to 0.197 in (5 mm) thickness
Description Araldite ® 2014 structural adhesive is a two component, room temperature curing, thixotropic paste adhesive of high strength with good environmental and excellent chemical resistance. Used for bonding of metals, electronic components, GRP structures and many other items where a higher than normal temperature or more aggressive environment is to be encountered in service. The low out gassing makes this product suitable for specialist electronic telecommunication and aerospace applications.

Processing Pretreatment The strength and durability of a bonded joint are dependant on proper treatment of the surfaces to be bonded. At the very least, joint surfaces should be cleaned with a good degreasing agent such as acetone or other proprietary degreasing agents in order to remove all traces of oil, grease and dirt. Low grade alcohol, gasoline, or paint thinners should never be used. The strongest and most durable joints are obtained by either mechanically abrading or chemically etching (“pickling”) the degreased surfaces. Abrading should be followed by a second degreasing treatment. Take resin and hardener in desiredratios. Thecombined liquids must be thoroughly mixed, manually or mechanically to completely removeanyhaziness or streaks. Scrap the sides and base of the mixing pot before transferring themixtoadesired mould for casting. It is advisable to apply the vacuum to remove air fromthe mix just priortopouring into the mould. It is important to mix small quantity at a time as epoxy systems tendtogiveexotherm when kept in a mass. Applications: Mix mass should then be poured into a mould. The mould can be hardor madeofsilicone rubber. Moulding can be carried out by gravity or under vacuum. It does not trapair easilyand does not heat up when used properly. Excessive humidity (above ~65%), lowdaylight andlowtemperature (less than 20°C) may retard the curing. Lapox Granito Cast systemmaynot workeffectively in the monsoon season. Ensure ambient material and workshop temperatureisbetween20°C and 35°C and humidity level below 65%. Filled mould can also be kept under vacuumtoachieve air free components. Troubleshooting Problem Cause Uncured after 24 hours to 48 hours Wrong mix ratio and | or low ambient temperatureSticky | greasy | hazy surface High humidity Air bubbles are entrapped Mixing was too fast and did not have time to releaseair Packaging Lapox Granito Cast is available in 1.3 kg bottles, 4 kg jerry cans, 12 kg HDPE carboys and260kgMS | HDPE drums. It is suitable for bonding a wide variety of metals, ceramics, glass, rubber, rigid plastics and most other materials in common use. It is a versatile adhesive for the craftsman as well as most industrial applications. A layer of adhesive 0.05 to 0.10 mm thick will normally impart the greatest lap shear strength to the joint. Huntsman stresses that proper adhesive joint design is also critical for a durable bond. The joint components should be assembled and secured in a fix position as soon as the adhesive has been applied. Equipment maintenance All tools should be cleaned with hot water and soap before adhesives residues have had time to cure. The removal of cured residues is a difficult and time-consuming operation. If solvents such as acetone are used for cleaning, operatives should take the appropriate precautions and, in addition, avoid skin and eye contact.
