Ambient cure high viscous adhesive systemDescription Lapox Ultra is two component modified, viscous epoxy adhesive system. When both componentsare mixed in recommended ratios and cured appropriately at room temperature, an excellent bondstrength can be achieved with most of the substrates including glass, metals, laminates, wood, textile and natural stones. Faster productivity can be achieved, if curing is performed at highertemperature between 40°C and 60°C. Curing at higher temperature is recommended to achieveoptimum bond strength.ApplicationsArtificial jewellery and jewel stone fixingAutomobile componentsCeramic worksConstructionElectrical componentsGeneral engineering componentsSouvenirs and handicraftsSports goodsAdvantagesAdequate pot lifeExcellent electrical insulation propertiesHigh bond strengthHigh mechanical strength even in dynamic conditionsThermally stable and suitable to perform in extreme conditionsWater and chemical resistantTypical specifications Test Unit Reference ValueResin HardenerDescription - Visual Off-white, opaque, viscous liquidClear, yellowish tobrownish, viscous liquidViscosity at 25°C1 m Pas ASTM D2196 28,000 - 42,000 28,000 - 40,000Colour GS ASTM D1544 - Max 8Density g/cc ASTM D792 1.06 - 1.17 0.92 - 0.981Viscosity by Brookfield viscometerMix specifications Test Unit Reference ValueMixing ratio (resin : hardener) w/w - 100 : 80Mix viscosity at 25°C m Pas ASTM D2196 30,000 - 35,000Pot life1 Minutes ASTM D2471 75 - 90Peak exotherm temperature2 °C ASTM D2471 Max 60Surface dry* Minutes ASTM D5895 120 - 140Touch dry* Minutes ASTM D5895 300 - 320Hard dry* Minutes ASTM D5895 520 - 5401Pot life of 100 g mix mass at 25 ± 1°C in plastic disposable cup by ‘Gardco’ gel timer2Total 100 g mix mass in plastic disposable cup at 25°C*Drying time of 200 micron film on glass plate at 25°CAfter cure specifications1Lap shear strength on prepared aluminum strips after 24 hours curingTest Unit Reference ValueLap shear strength at 27°C kg/cm2 ASTM D1002 Min 120
ProcessingSurface reparation: The adherents must be thoroughly degreased with a good degreasing solvent(e.g. toluene, acetone trichloroethylene) and abraded with coarse emery paper or chemicallyetched. Inadequately pre-treated substrates may not bond satisfactorily.Application: The mixed mass is applied by brush or spatula on the surface to be adhered. The mixmust be used within its pot life.Curing: Curing normally takes place at room temperature within about 24 hours depending on theambient temperature but may be accelerated by the application of heat.PackagingLapox Ultra is available in 6.5 g, 13 g, 36 g, 90 g and 180 g tube packs as well as 450 g, 900 g and1.8 kg bottles and 9 kg, 45 kg and 90 kg HDPE carboys.Storage and handlingLapox Ultra should be stored in a cool and dry place, preferably in a sealed container and shouldnot be exposed to direct sunlight.
