Description : Fevicol SP-6 is a synthetic rubber (polychloroprene) based solvent borne
contact adhesive. The adhesive dries to a tough flexible film with good resistance to heat and
ageing. Fevicol SP-6 is suitable for spray application. It demonstrates fast initial strength and
good contact capability. When used as two-way adhesive the open-time for assembly is not a
constraint, but when considered for one-way application the assembly should be done within
very short time.

APPLICATION AREAS : Fevicol SP-6 is a multipurpose adhesive and suitable for the
automotive industry as a high performance trim adhesive. It forms a strong permanent contact
bond between the following materials : Painted steel, Plywood, Chipboard, Polyurethane foam,
Muslin, Foam rubber, Felt, supported PVC sheet Fabrics, Leather etc. It will not bond plastics
like Teflon, Polythene & it should never be directly applied on substrates affected by solvents
like Thermocol.
METHOD OF APPLICATION :
1. The substrates to be bonded must be clean, dry free from oil, grease etc. Trichloroethylene
/ Acetone may be used for Cleaning.
2. Apply uniform coat of adhesive on both substrates to be bonded, using an air supported
spray-gun with 1.6 ??2.0 mm nozzle orifice from a distance of 2-3 feet at 3.5 ??5.0 Kg/cm2 air
pressure.
3. Allow to dry for a minimum of 5 minutes. Bring both the substrates together with perfect
alignment and press firmly. Sufficient pressure is mandatory to obtain satisfactory
coalescence of the two adhesive films. The contact bond offers sufficient initial strength for
immediate handling. The bonded assembly need not be kept under pressure. The bond
cures further and attains peak strength in 3-4 days.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS : Store the containers in well sealed condition away from heat and
source of combustion or sparks. Proper ventilation must be provided on the shop-floor. A
detailed MSDS is available on request.
SHELF-LIFE : This product will remain suitable for it??s intended purpose for up to 12 months
when stored under recommended conditions in the original sealed container.

Method of Use Ensure that the surface to be bonded is clean and dry. Clean the surface thoroughly to remove any dirt, grease etc. Then apply the adhesive on both surfaces evenly and allow drying for 5-10 mins or until just “dry to touch”. Now join both surfaces and press well for about 6-8 hours to get a strong and perfect bond. Care should be taken to avoid trapping of air during joining.
Note : Workable bond strength of the joint will be achieved after sometime, but maximum strength will occur only after the solvent has completely evaporated, this takes between 12-24 hours depending on the porosity of the surface.

Method of Use Ensure that the surface to be bonded is clean and dry. Clean the surface thoroughly to remove any dirt, grease etc. Then apply the adhesive on both surfaces evenly and allow drying for 5-10 mins or until just “dry to touch”. Now join both surfaces and press well for about 6-8 hours to get a strong and perfect bond. Care should be taken to avoid trapping of air during joining.
Note : Workable bond strength of the joint will be achieved after sometime, but maximum strength will occur only after the solvent has completely evaporated, this takes between 12-24 hours depending on the porosity of the surface.

It contains highly volatile solvents, which will release during application, processing and use. These volatile solvents are highly flammable, hence adhesive must not come in contact with heat, spark and necked flame. This product has a shelf-life of 1 year if stored in POLYGRIP® RAPID Technical Data Sheet | Polymers Business April 2021 Page 2 of 2 its original container between 2°C and 40°C away from humidity and excessive heat. Please refer to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for detailed instructions on storage and handling. Safety Wear personal protective equipment (PPE). Avoid contact with the eyes and skin. In case of direct contact and irritation, it should be washed off immediately with soap and warm water. Proper ventilation must be provided to shop floor where adhesive is used. Avoid breathing vapours, mist or gas. Please refer to the SDS for detailed safety instructions.
Spills and disposal In case of spills, sweep up and shovel the spilled material. Keep spilled material in suitable, closed containers for disposal. APPLICATION AREA: FEVIBOND is a multipurpose adhesive is used to bond flexible as well as rigid substrates. 5 Open Time Min Minimum 5 Min Application Area : Fevicol CBR 7 is used to bond rubber to rubber sheat by lap shear (overlap ) joints. This product is extensively used in maintanance of Conveyor Belts in steel plants & similar industries.
Method of Application :
Surface preparation : The surface to be repaired must be free from moisture, oil, dust, grease etc. The surface should be roughened by using buffing tools to achieve the desired performance.
Mixing Method : In a clean metallic container mix the resin and activator in the specified ratio (100:5 parts by weight) and stir the mixture using a clean metallic/wooden rod thoroughly to get a homogeneous mass.
Application : Apply the mixture by brush, on both the prepared surfaces and wait for 5 to 7 minutes depending at ambient . Then apply the second coat in a similar manner. After five minutes bond the two surfaces in such a manner that no air bubble is trapped . This is achieved by application of suitable roller.
Note : Tightly close the containers immediately after use.
Curing Schedule : The repaired component will have adequate handling strength in approximately two hours at ambient. Full strength will be achieved after a curing of 24 hours at ambient condition.
Safety Precautions Avoid contact with skin, eyes etc use of hand gloves and safety goggles is recommended Application area should have good ventilation. Detailed MSDS will be available on request.
Shelf Life : Fevicol SR CBR 7 (Resin & Activator) has a shelf life of 12 months from the date of manufacture when stored in original sealed container .when stored in covered storage area away from direct sunlight, rains, moisture etc.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS :
Proper surface preparation is important to get optimum & consistent results.
Surfaces must be dry and free from dust, dirt, oil & grease, mould release agent
and other contaminants.
Stir well the contents till homogeneous
Apply the adhesive uniformly on both the substrates to be bonded by
brush or appropriate applicator. Porous substrates may require a second coat,
which can be applied after 5-10 minutes of first coat.
Allow to dry for 15-20 minutes at room temperature. The adhesive after
drying exhibits tack. The finger test has proven itself to be a reliable
method of judging the OPEN-TIME. Whereas this time only serves as a
rough indication , variance may occur due to temperature, relative
humidity, type of substrates etc. In the finger test the adhesive must feel
dry but tacky. The substrates bonded after prolonged open-time & in the
absence of tack may result in inferior coalescence & bond strength.

After appropriate OPEN-TIME( which is the span between Drying-time & Tack
Retention Time) bring both the substrates together, align them properly and press
firmly to obtain a uniform contact pressure. The bonded components need not be
kept under pressure fixture.

Coverage : Approx 250-350 gms per square meter on non porous substrates.

Allow to dry for 15-20 minutes at room temperature. The adhesive after
drying exhibits tack. The finger test has proven itself to be a reliable
method of judging the OPEN-TIME. Whereas this time only serves as a
rough indication , variance may occur due to temperature, relative
humidity, type of substrates etc. In the finger test the adhesive must feel
dry but tacky. The substrates bonded after prolonged open-time & in the
absence of tack may result in inferior coalescence & bond strength.

After appropriate OPEN-TIME( which is the span between Drying-time & Tack
Retention Time) bring both the substrates together, align them properly and press
firmly to obtain a uniform contact pressure. The bonded components need not be
kept under pressure fixture.
?????? The full bond strength builds up further in 24hrs to 48hrs after application.
Coverage : Approx 250-350 gms per square meter on non porous substrates.
However coverage quantity may vary on porous substrates like wood, leather etc.
